Final Day in Silverton, OR

Sun. June 24
Main Street in Silverton
Well, this is our final full day in Silverton.  We got up at the usual time (7:30 am), and sat around, drank coffee, and generally thought about what we might do today.  After showers, we were just cleaning things up when Faith came over to see what we were going to do.  We told her we would be staying the day, so they decided to drive up to Silver Falls State Park to do some hiking.  Dawn and I told them to enjoy themselves and off they went.

Some of the Shops
Dawn had purchased a pattern yesterday, and found out that she needed different needles than she already had, so wanted to return to the store to purchase them.  We got there, and of course they didn't open until noon.

We decided to drive around and see some of the sights from Silverton.  There is apparently a Frank Lloyd Wright house here, so we tried to find it.  Well, after the first sign, we didn't see any more, but we were on the road to the State Park, so went up there to look it over.

The parks in this state are quite nice.  There were a number of sites, many with trailers in them, along with a lot with tents.  Most of the sites had water and power, and some of them also had sewer.  Unfortunately, all of them had reserved signs on them, indicating that someone was coming there today to stay for a few days.  Faith had tried to get us in there, but couldn't because there weren't any vacancies.  In addition, after the rain for most of the night, the ground was quite wet and muddy, so it was somewhat good for us to be where we are.

We came down, and Dawn was able to get into the store where she needed to pick up the special needles.  After that, a short stop at Safeway to pick up some milk and some extra buns for lunch the next couple of days.  Then back to the trailer for lunch, and to relax some more.

Baileys came home a couple hours later, and after they got cleaned up, and had eaten their lunch, we decided to play $1.35 again.  We sat outside our trailer on our small picnic table and played two games before packing things in to eat supper.

The day turned out really nice - sunny with cloudy periods - although it wasn't too warm.  After raining much of the night, it was a nice respite.  The forecast had showed that this was going to be how the weather was to be, and for tomorrow, it is supposed to be mostly showers.  Good thing we are leaving for the next stage of the trip.

Our plan is to head towards the coast, and follow the Oregon Coast north until we can head back to the I-5 near Tacoma, WA.  We'll find a place to stay tomorrow night, and then head home the next day.
